Opportunities for Irish audiences to hear, and for Irish musicians to play with, leading international jazz figures have also been increasing steadily. Individual enthusiasts have played an important role in this movement: the architect Allen Smith established Jazz on the Terrace as a vehicle for the promotion of jazz concerts from 1982 and has been associated with the Improvised Music Company from 1991."
