Don't miss Jazz on Four, Wednesdays, 9pm

Allen has a great show lined up for tomorrow night which includes some of my favourite female vocalists like June Christie and Mary Coughlan. Also included is a tune composed by Gabriel Fauré which I cannot wait to hear. You can also expect to hear some great tunes from Irish Jazz Musicians as usual tomorrow night. Tune in online at www.4fm.ie or check out your local frequency on the site. 9pm. Don't miss it - there'll be a quiz after!

On the topic of Irish Jazz Musicians don't miss the launch of the the Improvised Music Company's CD sampler of all that is best in Irish Jazz Music entitled Way Out West. The CD includes fourteen tracks and next Tuesday 22nd April the CD will be launched in the Button Factory (formerly the Temple Bar Music Centre) with performances from six of the featured artists. The IMC will also give the first 100 to arrive a free copy of the CD so no dawdling!

Find out who's performing on the night and on the CD - check out the info on the Improvised Music Company website.

"After many years during which only the guitarist Louis Stewart was consistently connected with the international jazz world, many Irish jazz musicians have developed relationships with counterparts elsewhere, notably through involvement with jazz education. Opportunities for Irish audiences to hear, and for Irish musicians to play with, leading international jazz figures have also been increasing steadily. Individual enthusiasts have played an important role in this movement: the architect Allen Smith established Jazz on the Terrace as a vehicle for the promotion of jazz concerts from 1982 and has been associated with the Improvised Music Company from 1991."
